Affiliate Disclosure

Effective Date: May 2, 2026

We believe in transparency. This page explains how BestShaverPicks earns money and how that affects (or doesn’t affect) the recommendations you read on this site.

The Short Version

BestShaverPicks participates in affiliate programs. This means we earn a commission when you click certain links on our site and make a purchase. You pay the same price whether you use our links or go directly to the retailer.

We do not accept payment to write positive reviews. We buy products at full retail price for testing whenever possible. When a product underperforms, we say so — even if we earn commission on it.

That’s the entire story. The longer version below explains the details, complies with FTC requirements, and walks you through exactly how affiliate income works on this site.

What Are Affiliate Links?

Affiliate links are special URLs that contain a tracking code identifying BestShaverPicks as the source of the click. When you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale as a commission.

For example, if you click an Amazon link on our site for the Braun Series 9 PRO+ 9567cc and buy it (or anything else within 24 hours of clicking), we earn a small commission from Amazon. Amazon pays this commission. Your price does not change.

You can identify affiliate links on this site in several ways:

  • They typically point to retailer websites like Amazon
  • We mark product recommendations with phrases like “Check Price on Amazon”
  • The URL may contain a tracking parameter (such as “?tag=” for Amazon)

If you’d rather not use our affiliate links, you’re welcome to search for any product directly on the retailer’s website. Our content is freely accessible regardless of how you choose to shop.

Programs We Participate In

Amazon Associates Program

BestShaverPicks is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Required Amazon disclosure:

“As an Amazon Associate, BestShaverPicks earns from qualifying purchases.”

This disclosure appears on every page of the site that contains Amazon affiliate links, in compliance with the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement.

Other Affiliate Programs

We may participate in additional affiliate programs over time, including:

  • Brand-specific affiliate programs (such as direct relationships with Braun, Panasonic, or Philips when available)
  • Manufacturer rewards programs
  • Affiliate networks like ShareASale, CJ Affiliate, or Impact Radius

When we add new affiliate relationships, this page will be updated to reflect them.

How Commissions Work

Amazon Associates Commission Rates

Amazon’s commission structure varies by product category. For the products we typically recommend, Amazon pays us between 1% and 4% of the sale price:

  • Health and beauty products (electric shavers, beard trimmers): typically 4%
  • Tools and home improvement: typically 3%
  • Other categories: typically 1-3%

For a $300 electric shaver purchase, our commission is approximately $9 to $12. Amazon takes their fee from the manufacturer’s wholesale margin, not from your retail price.

How We Get Paid

Amazon pays commissions monthly, with a 60-day holding period to account for returns. We typically receive payments two months after the qualifying purchase.

Cookies and Tracking

When you click an Amazon affiliate link from our site, Amazon sets a cookie in your browser that lasts 24 hours. If you complete any purchase from Amazon within those 24 hours — even if it’s a different product than what we linked to — we may earn a commission on the purchase.

Cookies do not track personal information like your name, address, or payment details. They simply identify that you arrived at Amazon through our affiliate link.

Our Editorial Standards

This is the most important part of this disclosure. The fact that we earn affiliate commissions does NOT change how we write reviews. Here’s how we maintain editorial independence:

We Buy Products at Full Retail

Whenever possible, we purchase products at full retail price using our own money. We test them like a regular consumer would. We do not accept free products from manufacturers in exchange for reviews.

When we do receive a review unit (which is rare), we disclose it clearly within that specific article.

We Recommend Based on Performance, Not Commission

Our product picks are based on testing, research, and how well a product matches a specific user’s needs. A product with a higher commission rate does not get a better recommendation than a product that performs better with a lower commission.

In some cases, our top recommendations earn smaller commissions than competitor products we don’t recommend. We pick the best product, not the most lucrative one.

We Tell You When Products Underperform

If a product fails to meet expectations, we say so — even if we earn commission on it. Honest reviews build trust with readers. Inflated reviews destroy it. We choose long-term reader trust over short-term commission boosts.

You’ll see negative observations and limitations in our product reviews. That’s intentional. No product is perfect for every user.

We Don’t Take Paid Placements

We do not accept payment from manufacturers or retailers in exchange for:

  • Adding products to “best of” lists
  • Improving a product’s ranking in our reviews
  • Writing sponsored content disguised as reviews
  • Removing negative observations

If we ever publish sponsored content (we currently don’t), it will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored” and separated from our regular editorial content.

How Affiliate Income Supports the Site

Running this site costs money. Web hosting, domain registration, testing equipment, software tools, and time spent researching and writing all add up. Affiliate commissions help cover these costs and keep the site running.

Without affiliate income, we would need to choose between:

  1. Charging readers a subscription fee
  2. Running intrusive display ads
  3. Accepting paid placements (which we don’t do)
  4. Shutting down the site

Affiliate commissions let us keep content free, ad-light, and editorially independent. When you buy through our links, you support that model — and we genuinely appreciate it.

If you find our content useful but prefer not to use affiliate links, that’s completely fine. There’s no obligation. The content is yours to use.

FTC Compliance

The Federal Trade Commission requires affiliate marketers to disclose their relationships with retailers. We comply with these guidelines through:

Site-Wide Disclosure

This Affiliate Disclosure page is linked from every page of the site (in the footer) and is referenced in our editorial articles.

In-Article Disclosure

Articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure statement near the top, before any product recommendations. This statement makes clear that the article contains affiliate links.

Clear Identification

Affiliate links are presented in context (such as “Check Price on Amazon” buttons) so readers understand they lead to retailers.

Honest Representations

We do not make false or misleading claims about products. Our reviews reflect our genuine opinions based on testing and research.

For more information about FTC affiliate disclosure requirements, see the FTC’s Endorsement Guides.

Questions or Concerns

If you have questions about how affiliate links work on this site or about a specific product recommendation, please contact us. We’re happy to clarify our editorial process or address any concerns.

If you believe a specific recommendation seems biased or inaccurate, we want to know. Reader feedback helps us maintain editorial standards and improve our content.

Updates to This Disclosure

We may update this Affiliate Disclosure as our affiliate relationships change. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page indicates when the disclosure was last revised.

Continued use of the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised disclosure.

Thank you for reading. Your trust matters more to us than commission revenue. We work hard to earn it.
